Early-stage startups focused on workforce solutions are invited to apply to the latest round of the KPMG Future Technology Program, offering five 12-month Stone & Chalk residencies.

Professional services firm KPMG, in partnership with Stone & Chalk, has launched the latest round of its Future Technology Program with a new focus on workforce technology, following previous iterations involving supply chain innovation and space technology.

The call for applications comes as the winner of the KPMG Tech Innovator competition – Sapia.ai founder Barb Hyman – prepares to compete in the international finals next month.

With applications submitted in the first week of November for a February start date, eligible early-stage startups selected for the program will receive one of five 12-month residencies at Stone & Chalk’s Sydney, Adelaide or Melbourne hub. , along with mentorship and support from KPMG industry experts. The consulting firm will also facilitate industry introductions and demo days with potential investors.

Entrepreneurs working on technology solutions in areas such as talent acquisition and retention, career mobility, workplace safety and compliance, and employee engagement, recognition and rewards are among those eligible to apply. Organizers warn that as the world changes, it will become increasingly important for businesses to rethink and adapt how they do business and get the most out of their most valuable asset – their people.

“We are delighted to be adding further support to help Australia’s new generation of workplace-related startups unlock their potential,” said KPMG Futures national managing partner Sarah Vega, who included Atlassian, Canva and Employment Hero among local success stories. “We’re not just looking at more innovation; we’re looking to connect the world with the next big idea and strengthen Australia’s voice in the global technology space.”

Another Australian workforce success story – automated recruitment platform Sapia.ai – has won this year’s KPMG Tech Innovator competition, with the global finals set to take place at the annual Web Summit in Lisbon in mid-November.

Sapia.ai was founded in 2018 by former Boston Consulting Group head of HR and marketing Barb Hyman with the goal of eliminating bias and is now used by some of the largest companies in the country.

Sapia.ai leverages its vast pool of interview data and uses natural language processing and machine learning to conduct blind candidate interviews via chatbot, avoiding the pitfalls of face-to-face assessment. reported KPMG; “Barb absolutely wowed the judges with her ambition for a more ethical future of recruitment and we can’t wait to see her represent Australia on the global stage in the KPMG Global Tech Innovator competition in November.”
